BOOK

                  MY FAVORITE BOOK…..

INTRODUCTION :

Books are considered to be one of our best friends who never leave our side. I find this saying to be very true as books have always been there for us, let it be any book for study purpose or a book for entertaining purpose they just become a beautiful part of our life. I enjoy reading books. They have the power to help us travel through worlds without moving from our place. In addition, books also enhance our imagination. Parents and teachers always encourage us to read. They teach us the importance of reading and that is where the actual journey of reading starts in everyone’s life.

MY BOOK - FAVOURITE ONE :

Well coming to my favorite book is a book which helps us to know the meaning of each word we read in newspapers or may be what we read in other books. Well I am speaking about a ‘Dictionary’ which really helps us to know the meaning of each and every word we read, so precisely that is the book which I like the most or we can even say it as “My Favorite Book”. Yes, of-course the reason behind it is very unique because I believe that when we read some interesting books which are based on fictions or may be some other books based on psychology and many more, here I personally feel that before I take a book to read and start reading it, I should have a dictionary with me so that when-ever I come across a word of which I am unknown about the meaning I can just glance through the dictionary and know the meaning of that particular word.

Well I feel this is a boon to me as far as glancing through the dictionary is been concerned because this will help me to know the exact meaning of the word and hence it will obviously help me to know the meaning of the complete sentence and hence the complete paragraph. As far as I know, this habit of glancing through a dictionary is a boon for me because very few people follow this procedure and I consider my-self to be a-bit lucky because I am one of them who follow this procedure. Yeah, I am articulating about this word ‘lucky’ because not everyone have this habit of glancing through the dictionary when they don’t know the relatable meaning of that particular word and that is where many of them miss to link and connect the meaning of the sentences that they read. Though everyone know about this process to know the meaning, but just because of their apathy and negligence kind of behavior they just avert to do so and continue to read a book without knowing the precise meaning of the given words and thus obviously miss to understand the concept.

Here dictionary will obviously help us to improve and enhance our vocabulary to a very good level or may be to a very good extent as well. This is because if we develop this kind of etiquette of flipping through a dictionary, this will really help us to articulate the sentences and improve our speaking ability of every particular language that we shall tend to speak. As far as we know, it’s always very important to keep on adding new words to our vocabulary and keep on upgrading ourselves and that is where we can actually tend to speak a language fluently and more efficiently. Yes, we have many different types of dictionaries based on the purpose of how precisely we want to use it, here are few types of dictionaries, those are :

 1) Standard dictionary :

Standard dictionaries have all the features mentioned above. They are revised regularly. Some of the standard dictionaries are Oxford Dictionary, Webster Dictionary, etc. A dictionary is a very good source of learning and an essential accompaniment while reading literature. Dictionaries help build vocabulary.

2) Picture dictionary :

A picture dictionary is essentially for children, although there are some foreign language picture dictionaries for everyone. There are fewer but more commonly used words, mostly about things that are commonly sighted. The word is written next to its picture for easy comprehension.

3) Thesaurus :

This is a kind of dictionary which gives the synonyms and antonyms of a given word.

4) Multilingual dictionaries :

These are the dictionaries that list out corresponding words in two languages, e.g. a French English dictionary word would list its words in French and the meanings are given in English. They are a handy source while learning a foreign language or while translating.

5) Subject specific dictionary :

Some of the subjects have their own jargon which is beyond the common vocabulary. In such cases those subjects have their own dictionaries for the learners. The examples would be a medical dictionary explaining medical terms and a legal dictionary explain the terms in law.

6) Online Dictionaries :

Now a days there are dictionaries available online where-by we can type a word in search and many dictionaries can give you the meanings and usage of that word including an audio pronunciation.

Conclusion :

So as we have come to a conclusion, I would like to mention that each book has its own beauty based on the worthy content that it carries with it-self and as we always say books are one of the most powerful resource we have with us to build our knowledge and learn many things through it because keeping on learning actively is one way to gain knowledge and that is why we refer books to be our ‘best-friend’.

                                           Thank You…
